Writer's Workshop: Countdown to Christmas

Today I'm linking up with Mama Kat and her Writer's Workshop.

The Prompt: The first of December is upon us! Describe an Advent Calender or a special way you count down days until Christmas (past or present).

We have two Advent Calenders in our house. One I made during the first or second year I was married.

Every day you hang another ornament on the trees until Christmas Eve when you get to hang the star at the very top.

It's been a really fun way to count down the days to Christmas.

The second Advent Calender we have was sent to us by my Mom and sister. They made it for us and filled it with goodies for the kids.

Each day they got to open one of the pockets and keep the goodies that were in it.
It was another fun way to count down until Christmas.

This year, I'm changing it up a little.
I'm still going to put some goodies in each pocket but along with the goodies,
I'm going to put a different scripture having to do with either, joy, families, or Jesus Christ.

This year I've been trying to focus on the joy in my life.
And as we count down to Christmas, I want to focus on the joy and true meaning of the celebrations.

This way each day we'll spend time as a family reflecting on our Savior and the gifts
He has given US this season...
