It's been a long time since I've written anything. Mostly because I'm afraid. I'm afraid to put myself out there. I like to read blogs. I've subscribed to quite a few. I guess I would be considered a lurker. I read and read but I never comment. Because I'm scared to put myself out there. In all that blog reading I have read several posts about being authentic in writing. That scares Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-25943993812987563002012-02-23T00:03:00.000-05:002012-02-23T00:04:36.334-05:00Peaceful
It's 11:56 pm Wednesday night.
I'm the only one up.
Even the dogs are asleep! (all 3 of them)
The house is completely silent...
...except for the thunderstorm.
It's amazing where we can find peace.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-10858307588943512112012-02-20T09:51:00.000-05:002012-02-20T09:51:21.619-05:00I can't believe it's been almost two months since my last post!
The last time I posted anything was on Christmas Eve, letting everyone know we made it to Colorado for Christmas.
We had a great time! We went swimming and played games and watched a different scary movie every night.
There were 18 of us in one 4 bedroom house (3 of the bedrooms were already occupied by residents) so every night was a giant slumber party in the family room.

It's Christmas Eve and we made it to Colorado!!!
It was a long day of travel, but it was totally worth it.
I can't even tell you how excited I am. We were the last of my family to arrive. (Greg is still en route.)
It is total chaos here and it's awesome!
When we landed it was 20 degrees and snow is everywhere.
It snowed 10 inches here on Thursday! It's going to be a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-4712597367417340472011-12-20T09:51:00.001-05:002011-12-20T12:10:00.356-05:00Raw...
I'm sad.
I've been sad for a while now...
I don't know why.
There is no reason for it.
We have been so blessed this year.
Both Greg and I have received promotions in a time where so many are losing their jobs or not making enough money.
We have been able to move to North Carolina and I have absolutely fallen in love with this area!

I haven't posted in a while....
I haven't had much to say. But today I watched this video and it made me pause and think about this time of year.
And why we celebrate Christmas.
We are celebrating the gift of our Savior to the world! By emulating Him and doing as He did we can give back just a little of what he gave us.
I love this time of year! It's a time of giving and Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-30174388974067136722011-12-08T09:24:00.001-05:002011-12-08T09:56:09.079-05:00Embrace the Camera: Goofy
One thing I'm super grateful for is finding the blog the anderson crew.
Every week she has a link up called "Embrace the Camera".
The point is to get in front of the camera and not be behind it taking pictures all the time.
This link up has been so much fun for me because I'm looking for ways to get in front of the camera with my girls instead of hiding behind it.
As a result, I'm Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-71098447629304756832011-12-05T22:10:00.001-05:002011-12-06T11:13:17.199-05:00Tuesday Ten: Most Favorite Movies From When I Was a Kid

Jay and I have been spending time watching some of the best movies from the 80's.

Today I'm linking up over at Momma Wants This and These Little Waves for their Memories Captured link party.
Both of my girls are older - 15 and 19
and I'm struck every day at how fleeting time is. (I know, cliche much?)
But it's true.
When I saw this link up, I was thrilled to join in.
What a great way to hold on to who your kids were.

When we moved into our new house, we realized that we had a round kitchen table that we didn't have a place for.
Then... I realized I had a big room that needed a coffee table.
That's when I came up with my brillant plan.
Here's what we did to make the kitchen table into our new coffee table.
First, I unscrewed the tabletop from the base.
Then we had to decide if we Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-7541494426812060242011-12-02T12:05:00.001-05:002011-12-02T19:38:28.343-05:00Writer's Workshop: Countdown to Christmas
Today I'm linking up with Mama Kat and her Writer's Workshop.
The Prompt: The first of December is upon us! Describe an Advent Calender or a special way you count down days until Christmas (past or present).

In my post yesterday, I mentioned my son, Porter is on a mission for our church.
He left August 18, 2010 and he won't return until August of 2012.
(For those of you who don't want to do the math, that's still 10 months away...)
His mission is a two year commitment.
I'm so proud of him.What he's doing isn't easy.
But...
I miss him like crazy.

Going back to reality after 5 days off was really hard.
It was our first Thanksgiving in North Carolina and I wanted to make it special for the girls.
We had a lot of fun just the four of us.
So... here are ten things I enjoyed about Thanksgiving weekend.

I need to vent...
I have spent the last 3 months working on a project at work.
Hours of my time and hard work
and it was all just thrown out the window today.
I'm so frustrated I could scream!
I had a meeting right at the end of my day where I was told that the group I was working with was going a different direction.
Now I have brought the frustration home with me Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115488702137673192.post-80153917970319702462011-11-21T20:00:00.001-05:002011-11-22T11:00:32.582-05:00Tuesday Ten Edition: Ten Joys
I took an unexpected hiatus from blogging for the last couple of weeks. I'm not sure why other than I got a bad case of "Overwhelmed".
(side note: I can't say "overwhelmed" without thinking of 10 Things I Hate About You and the ability to be "whelmed" in Europe)

I guess it's time to get real. This wasn't a good week for me at all.
Monday I had team meetings all day, including lunch out.
Tuesday was another round of team meetings followed by dinner out.
By Wednesday I was burnt out and overwhelmed with all the work I needed to catch up on. I was supposed to cook dinner that night but it wasn't going to happen. Have you ever moved somewhere and just knew you were home?
I was born in Provo, UT and when I was 3 months old my family moved to Denver, CO. That's where I lived for the next 30 years of my life.
My husband was transferred to West Virgina so off we went.
I loved West Virginia. I made life long friends there. Friends that I consider family and I love.

It constantly amazes me how different all three of my kids are. They each bring something different to our family. I'm grateful for all of them. Our family wouldn't be complete if any one of the three were missing.
Porter came into my life when he was seven. He moved in with his Dad and I when he was 11. What a blessing he's been to our family. I also committed to updating everyone every Saturday on my progress. For me, the accountability part is the most important part. I don't have a "Week 1" post because I was in West Virginia.
So, how am I doing with my goals, you ask? Honestly, I've struggled with pretty much all of them. Here is a list of my top 8 reasons Fall kicks all other season's butts:
1. Fall weather - It's the Goldilocks of the seasons. It's not too hot or too cold. It's juuuuust right.
2. Fall colors - They are beautiful. They're everywhere you look. The whole world is transformed into an explosion of amazing reds, browns, and golds.

I had to put the drive off until tomorrow because I got a wicked headache. Seriously, it was so bad that if I moved I almost threw up. (TMI?)
